Tea and Crumpets, Anyone?

Happy 2007 Everyone!

Sure sure, I know I'm a little late in saying so, but I hope 2007 is even better than the years before! Holy guacamole, it's 2007 already!? Gah, I'm getting old! I'm so old now, that I drink hot tea almost every day at work. I used to hate hot tea, HATE it. Now I can't live without it. We've got the best tea at work, by Mighty Leaf Tea. So good...

You know what's NOT good: people who back up their cars without looking while there are other cars right behind them; it's even worse if the driver is talking to & looking at someone standing OUTSIDE of the car. I'm a horrible driver myself, but people like that deserve a good smacking upside the head with a DMV manual and a pack of common sense.

Oh well, I'm going to go brew myself a nice cup of hot tea and thaw myself out. Brrr.

Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I made tiramisu for Thanksgiving. I messed up halfway and was annoyed at myself. Forgot one crucial ingredient until the very end, and had to scrape up the last layer of filling to remix it. Grrr. But everyone who ate it said it was good, although they're probably just being polite. Oh well, no one got a stomachache (i think...) so good enough!

Trick or Treat, Arr?

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! I've never really been a big Halloween person, since 1) I don't care for the candy 2) I don't like getting a costume. But this year, I actually did dress up for work, and it was more than just a headband of cat ears. I got quite a few remarks on my costume, too. And the best part of it (for me at least) is that I didn't even have to buy anything. Gosh, I'm so proud of my resourcefulness! hehe, ok *end arrogance here*

The party was pretty fun, although I think the lil kiddies have a lot more entertainment than the employees. =P but it's ok, cuz it's Halloween! Bearbears dressed up too! If you wanna see, the pictures are up on Bearbear's blog.

The Moment You've All Been Waiting For...

Ladies and Gentlemen, the moment has finally come...
Bearbear now has his own blog! That's right.
Without further due, may I present:  Bearbear's World

There's not much on there at the moment, but it will continue to be updated shortly. In fact, I can pretty much guarantee that Bearbear will be much better at updating his blog than I am. So go read it! It'll make Bearbear very happy. ^_^

We All Live in a Yellow Submarine...

My Coworkers are crazy. We decided to dress up as characters from The Life Aquatic of Steve Zissou for the Hollywood costume-themed offsite.

Go Team Zissou. We went on a boat cruise around the Bay.

Our thug picture. Yeah that's me being "thug".

We won 2nd place for group costume.

In other news....
I had the great opportunity to see Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda come speak today. Jane Fonda brought her dog. Gloria Steinem brought her brain. She is AWESOME! She is well known for her contributions to the feminist movement and having some radical views back then, and sometimes even a bad rep for being extreme, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear her speak in such rational,  intelligent manner that shows she is more gender-neutral than purely a radical feminist. She's not just some crazy feminist; despite her personal views, she is keenly aware of the need to view issues from a *human* perspective. And she looks exactly as I pictured her: leather pants, tank top shell under a casual jacket, no (or barely noticeable) makeup yet still exuding a natural, "healthy" attractive aura for a woman of her age. Not that I agree entirely with everything she said, (certainly not everything Jane Fonda said) but my goodness, from what I've seen today she is someone worthy of tremendous respect. (so excited! if i could, i would have run around in circles in my office. I think these are the first real famous people I've seen in real life!)

Some old quote from her:
"A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle" -Gloria Steinem

HAHA that cracks me up.
